What Happens When Weather Interrupts a Listing Photo or Drone Shoot?

A cloudy forecast does not answer every question about a listing shoot. Interior photography, exterior photographs, drone coverage, and a real twilight session depend on different conditions. The useful next step is to identify which part of the appointment may be affected and coordinate it with FLM.
This guide explains the current FLM weather policy and what to prepare when your Dallas, McKinney, Frisco, Plano, Allen, or Prosper listing has a weather-sensitive media appointment.
Tell us what the launch depends on
When booking, include the property address, access instructions, planned media, and the intended launch date. Flag an exterior feature that is central to the listing, such as a pool, acreage, a roofline, or outdoor living. Tell us if drone context or a real twilight image is especially important to your plan.
If the forecast changes, contact FLM about the affected work before changing the appointment on your own. Keep the property ready and make sure the person providing access knows that the plan may need coordination.
Cloud cover and unsafe conditions are different issues
Overcast skies may affect the appearance of an exterior without making all photography impossible. FLM’s pricing FAQ says cloudy-day photography may receive complimentary sky replacement when appropriate. That is an editing decision; it is not a promise that every outdoor scene can be made to look like any chosen weather.
Rain, high winds, or other unsafe conditions can affect whether exterior work or a drone flight can proceed. A forecast icon alone cannot guarantee the outcome at the property. Access, the actual conditions, and the specific production task matter.
Interior work may have a different path from aerial coverage
Ask whether the safe, accessible parts of the appointment can proceed while weather-sensitive work is coordinated separately. Interior photography may be possible even when the aerial portion needs another visit, but do not assume that every appointment can be split or that the same slot fits every scope.
Continue the normal preparation: clear counters and transition spaces, make beds, and have the intended rooms ready. FLM does not clean, declutter, or move furniture. Safe weather also does not resolve a locked door or an unprepared property.
The pilot makes the flight decision
FLM drone flights depend on FAA regulations, airspace authorization, site conditions, and weather. A flight is not guaranteed simply because aerial media is in the selected package.
The FAA identifies local weather, aircraft limitations, and applicable flight rules as part of a pilot’s safe-operation responsibility. See its UAS best-practice guidance. There is no single wind-speed number in this article that substitutes for the pilot’s assessment of a specific aircraft and site.
For a listing, that means planning aerial media early enough to accommodate a safe flight opportunity. Do not ask an agent, homeowner, or another person to make the flight decision on the pilot’s behalf.
What FLM reschedules at no additional charge
The current pricing FAQ states that when rain, high winds, or other conditions make exterior work or drone flight unsafe, the affected work is rescheduled at no additional charge. The terms specify that an unsafe drone portion is rescheduled at no additional charge when reasonably practicable.
This applies to the weather-affected work. It does not create a complimentary return trip for a later staging change, a renovation, new marketing direction, or a property that was not ready for its original appointment.
After coordinating a weather change, make sure the address, scope, access contact, and replacement arrangements are understood. Do not assume an unconfirmed new time is reserved.
Keep ordinary cancellations separate
Under FLM’s current terms, rescheduling is free when requested at least 24 hours before the appointment. Same-day cancellations are subject to a $49 fee. No-show appointments, including locked properties or unavailable access, may be billed up to the full service amount.
If weather and access problems overlap, explain both when you contact FLM. The safety-related rescheduling policy should not be confused with an ordinary last-minute cancellation or an inaccessible property.
Plan delivery around the work that can be completed
FLM photos and video are delivered the next day, including weekends. A weather-dependent portion still has to be captured before it can be delivered. Complex projects or substantial add-ons may require additional time; Zillow 3D tours have their separate typical 48–72 hour timeline.
If the listing deadline is close, ask which media can be completed and what remains weather-dependent. Coordinate the launch around actual delivered assets rather than promising an aerial view that has not yet been captured.
Review FLM aerial media, the photography service, and the stated package scope. For a new appointment, request your shoot. For an existing weather-sensitive appointment, contact FLM with the address and booked scope.
