Frisco and McKinney Top a 2026 Housing Market Ranking. What That Means for Your Listings

In August 2026, WalletHub published its annual comparison of 300 U.S. cities across 17 housing market metrics. Frisco ranked No. 1 and McKinney ranked No. 2. Allen placed eighth overall and ranked well among smaller cities, while Plano and Dallas also appeared in the study, as reported by CultureMap Dallas.

Rankings like this make headlines, bring relocation interest, and give agents a good conversation starter. They do not sell an individual house.

What the ranking measured

WalletHub looked at factors such as housing market attractiveness, home value forecasts, affordability relative to income, and population growth. Frisco scored strongly on affordability and economic environment and has a high share of homes built between 2010 and 2024. McKinney stood out for livability.

For listing agents, the practical takeaway is simple: buyers from other metros are paying attention to Collin County, and many of them will see your listing online before they ever see the city in person.

Out-of-town buyers shop differently

Relocation buyers often narrow a search from hundreds of miles away. They cannot drive past the house on a Saturday. They rely on:

  • Photos that show every main room clearly and accurately.

  • Aerial views that show the lot, the street, and nearby open space.

  • A floor plan to understand the layout.

  • A 3D tour or video to judge flow and scale.

When a listing gives them less, they move on to one that gives them more.

Newer homes can look alike online

A large share of newer construction in Frisco and McKinney means many listings share similar floor plans, finishes, and elevations. That makes presentation a real differentiator. Ways to separate a listing:

  1. Choose a cover image that shows what is different, such as a corner lot, a pool, a greenbelt view, or an upgraded kitchen.

  2. Sequence the gallery like a tour: exterior, entry, main living, kitchen, primary suite, outdoor space.

  3. Show the lot from above when location within the community matters.

  4. Use twilight imagery for homes with strong exterior lighting.

Do not borrow the headline as a claim

It is fine to mention a published ranking with its source. It is not fine to imply that a ranking guarantees appreciation, a sale price, or a timeline. Keep listing copy about the property, and cite any market statistic you use.

Match media to the price point and the buyer

Not every listing needs every service. A modest resale may be well served by professional photography plus a few drone images. A larger home competing for relocation buyers may justify video, a 3D tour, and a floor plan. Decide based on who the buyer is and what they need to see before booking a flight or a showing.
